I'm a native of New Castle,
Indiana
where I graduated
from Walter P. Chrysler High School. Later I attended Evangel
(University) College in Springfield, Missouri earning a B.A. in
English and Biblical Studies, with a minor in Psychology.
A writer and
communications professional, I served as the Editor of Christian
Bookseller Magazine in Carol Stream, Illinois (now Christian
Retailing based in Florida), the Managing Editor of Bridge Publishing, Inc. (now
Bridge-Logos Books), South Plainfield, New Jersey, and the
Public Information & Publications Director for a Christian
liberal arts college in Northwest Ohio.
Since I began
writing in 1968 I've authored short stories, poetry, online
content, ad copy, scripts, speeches, direct mail, articles, and
more. I've ghostwritten several Christian books and contributed
chapters to compilations, devotionals, and other books.
Over a seven year
period I held positions in employee communications, proposal
development, technical writing, quality & process management,
and more in various units of AT&T in New Jersey, including AT&T
Network Systems (now Lucent), AT&T Treasury, and AT&T Solutions.
I returned to
Indiana in 1996 operating a free-lance writing and
communications business (which I've done full time and part time
for several years) until joining Rolls-Royce Aerospace (formerly
Allison Engine). I then served for three years as the Corporate
Communications/PR Manager with Best Access Systems (formerly
Best Lock and now owned by Stanley Works) in Indianapolis.
 For two years, I
was a Project Editor, Consumer Dummies (www.dummies.com)
with Wiley Publishing, Inc. (www.wiley.com)
in Fishers, Indiana. Recently I
was the Executive Director of Communications for a University in
Cleveland, Ohio.
In addition to the
abovementioned experience I have also has done call center tier
2 technical support, factory labor, home construction,
greenhouse labor, janitorial, lumber yard labor, direct home
sales, directory keylining (graphic layout), and menswear sales.
I've taught a continuing education course for IUPUI in business
writing.
I'm the Publisher
of CleverSmith (TM) Press and a current member of the
Evangelical Press Association (EPA) and the International
Association of Business Communicators (IABC). I'm serving as
President (2011-2012) of the Cleveland IABC chapter (www.IABCCleveland.com).
I'm a member of
MetroAlliance Church in Cleveland, Ohio (www.metroalliance.net),
and joyfully married to
BethAnn Clark.

Statement of Faith
-
I believe the Bible to be the inspired, the
only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

I believe that there is one God, eternally
existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus
Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in
His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in
His personal return in power and glory.

I believe that for the salvation of lost and
sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

I believe in the present ministry of the
Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly
life.

I believe in the resurrection of both the
saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life
and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

I believe in the spiritual unity of
believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
