Thoughtful. Creative. Engaging. Clever!

m a native of New Castle, Indiana, home of the world's largest high school fieldhouse, where I graduated from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School (now called New Castle HS). Later I attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri earning a B.A. in English and Biblical Studies, with a minor in Psychology.

A writer and communications professional, I served as the Editor of Christian Bookseller Magazine in Carol Stream, Illinois (now Christian Retailing based in Florida), the Managing Editor of Bridge Publishing, Inc. (now Bridge-Logos Books), South Plainfield, New Jersey, and the Public Information & Publications Director for a Christian liberal arts college in Northwest Ohio.

While I'm no longer posting new items, you can read my award-winning blog at www.FaithBraised.com.

Since I began writing in 1968 I've authored short stories, poetry, online content, ad copy, scripts, speeches, direct mail, articles, and more. I've ghostwritten several Christian books and contributed chapters to compilations, devotionals, and other books.

Over a seven year period I held positions in employee communications, proposal development, technical writing, quality & process management, and more in various units of AT&T in New Jersey.

I returned to Indiana in 1996, operating a free-lance writing and communications business (which I've done full time and part time for several years) until joining Rolls-Royce Aerospace (formerly Allison Engine). I later served for three years as the Corporate Communications/PR Manager with Best Access Systems (now owned by Stanley Works) in Indianapolis.

For two years, I was a Project Editor, Consumer Dummies with Wiley Publishing, Inc. in Fishers, Indiana. Later I served as the Executive Director of Communications for a small University in Cleveland, Ohio.

In addition to the abovementioned experience I have also done call center tier two IT support, factory labor, home construction, greenhouse labor, janitorial, lumber yard labor, direct home sales, directory keylining/graphic layout, and menswear sales. I briefly taught a continuing education course for IUPUI in business writing.

I'm a member of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and the Evangelical Press Association (EPA).

I'm joyfully married to BethAnn Clark. In 2015 we moved from Cleveland to Oreland, Pennsylvania to be closer to BethAnn's family. She works at Lakeside. We are members of Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church where BethAnn serves as a Deacon and teaches children's Sunday school, and I serve as an Elder and Director of Communications.

I also walked on fire. Once.

Mom & Dad.  I miss my parents. They were good people. In some ways, we never quite get over the loss of parents, even knowing it's to be expected.

The real story? So, after reading this little bio, you think you know me, eh? Maybe you do. Maybe you don't. Read the real (or is it?) story and then see what you think.

Resume. For those who just want to get down to business or want a more in-depth view of my work experience, you'll discover those details here!

Statement of Faith

  • I believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

  • I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • I believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

  • I believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • I believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  • I believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

  • I believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

This Statement is essentially identical to those of the National Association of Evangelicals, the Evangelical Press Association, and the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

P.S. Other Stephen Clarks

Yes, there are others of us out there in the world. We are legion! But in a good sense.

One very nice Stephen who lives in England sometimes gets my emails. You can learn more about him at www.StephenClark.com (no R, and that's what causes the mix-ups). So, please be very careful when sending an email to me and make sure to get the R in there -- Stephen@StephenRClark.com.
