Everyone wants to have faith, and
they want to have it their way. It's a nice thought but not a
viable reality. So, you may not care for the writing in this
section. I thought I'd better tell you that right up front.
I do not believe that there are
many paths to heaven, or that God is just another "higher power"
among many.
That's
not what my experience has revealed, nor is it what the Bible
has affirmed.
If you want to accuse me of being
"exclusive" as opposed to "inclusive" that's fine. I am. (But
please note that exclusive is not a synonym for intolerant.)
The pieces here address matters of
faith from a thoroughly evangelical, biblical, fundamentalist,
holy roller, shout hallelujah, washed in the blood perspective.
I believe in one God and that the
only way to connect with Him is through a personal, transforming
relationship with His son, Jesus. That's it in a nutshell. You
don’t have to like or agree with any of this. That is your
choice. But it is not mine.
Having said that, feel free to
read these offerings, but if they or my faith annoy you, don’t
bother railing on me. Just go on your way and I'll continue on
mine.
Writers that have influenced the
nuances of my faith include, foremost, Francis Schaeffer, as
well as Paul the Apostle, Charles Colson, Philip Yancey,
Dietrich Bonheoffer, J. B. Phillips, Richard Foster, Frederick
Buechner, and dozens upon dozens of others.
Whether you are of the same mind
about faith as me or not, I hope you enjoy what's here and that
you are blessed by them.
Fleshing Out the Word
offers a varied series of
devotional articles. Some are really short, some are really
long, but all are just right They are not your typical thoughts
on aspects of walking out God's Word in the practical Christian
life. Some were originally written for a monthly men's
newsletter. Others were written for an online e-zine. All were
written with the help of the Holy Spirit. Enjoy! |
