Mercy!
How dare
I stand before God, shake my fist at him, pound the ceiling, and shout
about my situation, in pain and anger, "I don’t deserve this!" Though I’ve
done that.
How more appropriate that He
would look at me with tears in His eyes, behold the blood of Christ trampled
under my feet, and say to me in pain and sorrow, "I don’t deserve this."
Though He doesn’t.
Lord, have mercy.
And, amazingly, He does. Always.
Because of the Lord’s great
love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new
every morning; great is [His] faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV)
A bruised reed he will not
break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he
will bring forth justice. (Isaiah 42:3, NIV)
