Believing Is Being The Truth
When
first confronted with truth--a truth that makes us look at a sinfulness
in our lives--our reaction is often to lash out at the truth giver. To
wound them and beat them down with our words. To make them small so we
can feel big. Yet we know
that embracing truth is the way to salvation. The very thing we react against is
the very thing that will give us what we desire most--strength, power, freedom. Truth is a Person. And applying
truth to your life, even when it comes from a source you don't expect or
respect, will lead you into a deeper salvation, into closer relationship
with Truth. Believing the truth about yourself
will kill the lies with which you deceive yourself. Satan is the father
of lies--all lies. You can choose to be saved and stand in truth, or
foolishly cling to macho lies and be destroyed. Taking in truth and applying
it to your life will equip you to meet all the needs of your family. You
will become a source of light and life to your spouse and your children
instead of a source of despair and defeat. All truth is God's truth. To
deny the truth about yourself is to deny God and push Him out of your life
and block His blessings for your family.
They replied, "Believe in
the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." Then they
spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At
that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then
immediately he and all his family were baptized. The jailer brought them
into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because
he had come to believe in God--he and his whole family. (Acts 16:31-34 NIV)
