for Laurel and the "old gang"
A Step is not a Leap
EVERYTHING
is out of focus
Looking through screen doors.
You struggle to control and
Reconcile the images beyond.
But you can't.
Everything
is rough-edged,
Blurred.
Reality
seems out of focus.
You
get the feeling that to step
Out
past the screen door
Would
be to enter
A
sort of twilight zone.
Stepping
into . . . what?
Maybe
more of a leap
Across
an imagined chasm of fear
Into
the seeming unknown of life?
A
parallel here
Between
thought and vision.
What
you see is out of focus.
What
you know seems uncertain, not easily
Verified.
And until the screen door
Is
opened, the blur of uncertainty
Will
persist.
But
yet, while the vision is not
Perfect,
you still see
And
you know what the images represent.
The
leap is not blind.
Just
impaired. And leaping into
Faith,
as opening a screen door,
Is
stepping into joyful clarity.
You
knew it all along.
