Why do you believe that this is the truth?

Because I must. It is.

Why? How do you know?

It’s there. Right there. Out in the open.

So?

Can you deny it? Do you deny it?

Yes. It is what you make of it. And I make of it nothing.

That’s absurd! It is what it is!

Not so. I think it’s all rather silly.

You would. That lets you off the hook.

Why would I want to be on it?

To be a real person. So that I could love you.

Love is a choice. Simply choose to do it with me.

I can’t.

Why?

The truth?

Yes. Of course.

How would you know it if I told you?

Ah. I see. Then, goodbye.

Yes.
