When Night Falls

If the day falls to night, will it hurt me?

If it falls, will it fall like snow
and melt from the heat of my touch?

If it falls, will it fall like rain,
and gently caress my face as it leaves
a sheen of cool moisture?

If it falls, will it fall like tears,
warm and salty on my trembling lips?

If it falls, will it fall like hail,
and sting sharply before bouncing
away, hard and harsh?

If it falls, will it fall like autumn leaves,
colorful and rustling beneath my feet?

If the day falls to night, will it hurt me?

Or will it close quietly around me
like a warm comforter on a cold day?

Or will it just mean that the sun is gone
and the night has come?

Dark. Will it hurt me?
