I have two cats, Peanut and Shadow.
I got them as kittens in March 2004. They are calico/torties,
sisters, from the same litter. Peanut earned her name because she
was the smallest; and Shadow because she tended to
follow me everywhere.
As they have grown, it's become clear that, even though
they are sisters, their personalities are very different. Among
other things.
Today, Peanut is the larger cat, and at around
12 pounds, twice as big as her sister. She's also the shy one,
tending to spend most of her time under the couch or bed, or, more
recently, in my closet where she's created a nice "nest" by kneading
a blanket into shape. She's an amazing nest builder!
Shadow, at around 6 pounds, is the charmer and
lap-cat. She still follows me around and tends to be in
whatever room I'm in. She'll even curl up on my desk while I'm
working -- that is after she's walked all over my laptop. While Peanut refuses to get on the bed -- ever
-- Shadow spends a good deal of the night with me. |
